Mayor Joy Belmonte and the Quezon City Government have been recognized by numerous award-giving bodies and national government offices for their unwavering public service and initiatives for QCitizens.
Mayor Belmonte was earlier recognized by the Saludo Excellence Awards as the “National Outstanding Mayor of the Year” for her dedication in serving QCitizens.
The mayor was also named as one of the resilience champions by the National Resilience Council (NRC) for her initiatives to promote community-based urban farming programs among QCitizens as a response to food insecurity.
“These awards give pride to the city but also serve as a reminder for us public servants, to do better and improve our services and programs for the benefit of every QCitizen especially the vulnerable and marginalized,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
Early this month, the Quezon City Council led by Vice Mayor Gian Sotto was hailed as the Most Outstanding Sangguniang Panlungsod in the National Capital Region in the 2023 Local Legislative Award (LLA) for the performance period of July 2019 to June 2022.
The City Council got a rating of 99.5 percent, based on the assessment of the Regional Awards Committee of the LLA.
Further, the Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital (RMBGH) has been recognized by the Department of Health for its Newborn Screening Facility that ensures the health and well-being of all newborns in Quezon City.
The City Veterinary Department, on the other hand, was commended by the National Meat Inspection Service – NCR (NMIS-NCR) for meeting the Local Meat Inspection System certification criteria and complying with the national standards. QC is the only city in NCR that received the award.
Meanwhile, the city has also received a grant from the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Lunsod Lunsad Program, which recognizes innovative project proposals that increase the creation of creative projects for economic and cultural development.
The grant will be used in the city’s Digital Creative Acceleration program that capacitates creative entrepreneurs in adapting to the digital technology ecosystem. It targets film, artists, designers, and local artisans as program beneficiaries.
