As part of its efforts to aid micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Quezon City government has joined forces with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Philippines for the Bigyang-Halaga, Bangon, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (BBMSME) program.
The QC government and FDA Philippines signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the BBMSME program, which aims to provide technical assistance and training on regulatory compliance, product registration, and other relevant topics for MSMEs.
The collaboration also aims to streamline the registration process, making it easier and more accessible for them to comply with FDA regulations.
“Through our partnership with the local government of Quezon City, we aim to provide MSMEs with the resources they need to succeed. This includes access to training, technical assistance, and support in complying with regulatory requirements, said FDA Director-General Samuel Zacate, who heads the agency in charge of ensuring the safety and quality of food, drugs, and other consumer products in the market.
“We recognize the value of our MSMEs and their contribution to the local economy. This partnership will propel them forward as they seek the important certification from FDA to confirm the safety, efficacy, and quality of their food and cosmetic products,” Belmonte said.
The two also agreed that by supporting MSMEs will help create employment, boost productivity and improve the quality of life for all citizens.
The MOA is consistent with the guidelines established by Republic Act (RA) No. 9501, also known as “An Act to Promote Entrepreneurship by Strengthening Development and Assistance Programs to Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, amending for the Purpose RA No. 6977, as amended, otherwise known as the “Magna Carta for Small Scale Enterprises,” and for Other Purposes.
The BBMSME program will be under the Quezon City government’s initiative to aid micro and small enterprises in securing necessary documents and licenses.
The local government through the Small Business and Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office (SBDCPO) will soon launch the Q-Certified program which will provide assistance to MSMEs for certification by and registration in government agencies.
“The QC government is committed to promote the growth and development of our micro and small enterprises. Apart from providing initial capital assistance, the city government will also guarantee that they comply with requirements such as business and sanitary permits, among others,” SBCDPO head Mona Yap said.
