On the second day of the Stanford Sustainability Summit (S-cubed), Mayor Joy Belmonte and other leading environmental changemakers in the world discussed the most pressing sustainability challenges faced in their respective countries.
They collaborated into groups to come up with innovative climate solutions, based on their experiences and practices they have faced in their sector and community.
Mayor Joy discussed the difficult realities and processes that she, as a leader and policymaker, faced in passing and implementing programs and policies such as the prohibition of single-use plastics in Quezon City.
Before the summit ended, Mayor Belmonte reminded the group to stay grounded in reality as they pursue a shared goal of mitigating the effects of climate change.
Mayor Belmonte, along with Education Affairs Unit chief Maricris Veloso, is among the 40 most innovative environmental changemakers in the world invited by the Stanford University to participate in the summit.
