Mayor Joy Belmonte is among the 50 most innovative environmental changemakers in the world invited by the Stanford University to take part in the Stanford Sustainability Summit (S-cubed) from July 8 to 9, 2024.
On the first day of the summit, Mayor Joy Belmonte showcased how the city ensures inclusive climate policies and initiatives for its residents.
She also mentioned several of the city’s key climate action and sustainability programs, including the Joy of Urban Farming, the prohibition of single-use plastics and plastic bags, the refill hub program, the enhanced Green Building Ordinance, and the expansion of the bike lane network.
Mayor Joy is also joined by Education Affairs Unit Chief Maricris Veloso, and other Filipino delegates including Oscar M. Lopez Center Communications Manager Kato Sarmiento, Prime Infra Chief Administrative Officer Minerva Matibag, and Manila Observatory Associate Director for Climate Policy and International Relations Tony La Viña.
The summit aims to gather environment champions worldwide to come up with a set of new and innovative ideas to address the climate crisis.
