Ipinamalas ng mga QCitizen ang kanilang galing at talento sa pagdidisenyo at paggawa ng fashionable na damit hango sa recycled fabric at textiles!

Wagi sa kauna-unahang RetaShow: Quezon City’s Catwalk to Sustainability sa SM Novaliches si Renegade Limpin ng Barangay Paltok. Pumangalawa naman si Maricris Pabelico ng Sauyo, at third placer naman si John Jade Montecalvo ng Barangay Payatas.

Mismong sina Mayor Joy Belmonte, District 5 Rep. PM Vargas, Coun. Aly Medalla, Coun. Ram Medalla, at QC SK Federation President Coun. Sami Neri ang nagbigay ng award, na may kalakip ding cash prize.

Pinasalamatan ni Mayor Joy Belmonte ang mga kalahok sa kanilang pakikiisa sa adhikain ng lungsod na mabawasan at kalaunan ay mapigilan ang textile pollution dulot ng fast fashion.

Ipinamalas ng 20 finalists ang kanilang talento sa pagdidisenyo ng upcycled na tela. Sinuri ang kanilang mga likha base sa design and originality, ethics and sustainability, at wearability at feasibility.

Sumailalim din sila sa pagsasanay ng mga kilalang fashion designer at environment advocates na sina Allesandra Gutierrez, Dars Juson, at Cris Roxas.

Naging judges naman sina Mr. Eric Pineda, isang award-winning fashion designer; Ms Pamela Mejia, founder ng FIBERS na sumusuporta sa mga fashion social entrepreneurs sa Southeast Asia; at Ms Zarah Juan, isang multi-awarded Filipino designer na partner din ng lungsod sa Vote to Tote program.
