As part of its partnership with the Quezon City government against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Kilusang Kontra Covid (KilKoVid) will hold a convention on October 22 at the Manuel L. Quezon Ceremonial Hall of the Quezon City Hall.
The event, Dubbed “BIG BANG CONVENTION, “Dagdag Kaalaman, Wastong Paraan – Para COVID Labanan”, will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. with guest speakers present at the venue while participants can watch it through livestreaming on Facebook and YouTube.
Various speakers, led by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, will share their professional knowledge and experience on the various topics consistent with KilKoVid’s goals of “Kaligtasan, Kalusugan & Kabuhayan”.
Belmonte will tackle the local government’s various initiatives that have helped them gain ground in the campaign against the virus.
Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano, for his part, will provide updates on the national government’s initiatives on COVID-19 while former Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Undersecretary Eliseo Rio will talk about ICT and COVID-19 response.
Others speakers and their respective topics are Tony C. Leachon, MD, FPCP (Role of Civil Society in COVID Response); Edsel T. Salvana, MD, FPCP, FIDSA (How to Prevent Resurgence and Adapting to New Normal After COVID-19 Infection); Congresswoman Estela Luz A. Quimbo (Economic & Business Recovery in the Philippines and Quezon City during the COVID-19 Pandemic) and KilKoVid Alliance Partners (How We Can Support our QC Barangay Partners).
An open forum, moderated by Atty. Dot B. Gancayco and Councilor Alfredo S. Roxas, will follow.
The city government has entered into a partnership with the KilKoVid alliance to involve various groups and the private sector in the fight against the virus.
Among KilKoVid’s alliance partners are the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (Dr. Marivic Pilares Cruz & Dr. Flora Marin), Philippine College of Physicians (Dr. Melvin Hacutina), Rotary International District 3780 (Governor Johnny Gaw Yu), UP Women Lawyers’ Circle (Atty. Arlene Lapuz- Ureta), Urban Green Communes (Atty. JC Tejano), Celebrity Club (Mr. Art Tibay).
KilKoVid’s steering committee includes Dr. Tony Leachon (Chairman), Atty. Dot B. Gancayco (President), Egay Zaragoza (Vice-President & Convention Chairman), Popo Suanes (Secretary), Dr. Martin Martinez (Treasurer), Dr. Rosel Doval Santos & Estel Ramos (Ways & Means Committee).
Also expected to attend the event are officers of 142 barangays of Quezon City, 50 QC Council Sectoral Representatives, 36 QC Councilors and the more than 200 KilKoVid crusaders.
