With the city’s commitment to improve and enhance food systems, the Quezon City Government welcomed technical experts Guinevere Ortiz and Declan Graham from the New Zealand Plant and Food Research (PFR). QC LGU and PFR officials visited city public and private markets in Galas, Kamuning, and Cloverleaf Balintawak to study the establishment of city cold storage facilities to lengthen produce shelf life, and increase the number of rapid composters to reduce market waste.

Sunnyville Farm of the city’s Joy of Urban Farming Program was also visited to better understand the city’s capacity for urban food production and it’s role in contributing to a circular economy.

Samantha Teo of New Zealand Government to Government (G2G), Market Development and Administration Department (MDAD) Officer-in-Charge Margie Santos and Action Officer Perry Dominguez, Sustainable Development Projects Officer Nonong Velasco, the members of City Architect Department, and MDAD enforcement team were present.

Quezon City works together with New Zealand G2G, a public sector entity and a joint partnership between the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE).
