Quezon City is making great strides toward environmental sustainability by introducing electric QCity Buses. These eco-friendly buses will soon join the fleet of approximately 100 QCity Buses, offering free transportation to QCitizens.
The new electric buses are designed with inclusivity in mind, featuring 41 seats and wheelchair ramps to accommodate persons with disabilities. To enhance the passenger experience, these buses are also equipped with SMART TVs, which will showcase videos about various city programs and projects.
This initiative aligns with Republic Act No. 11697, also known as the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA Law), which promotes the adoption of electric vehicles as part of sustainable development efforts.
With the full rollout of the electric fleet under the QCity Bus program, the city aims to improve air quality by reducing black carbon emissions from the transportation sector by up to 25%. This transition underscores Quezon City’s commitment to fostering a cleaner, greener, and healthier urban environment.
